TEST AND TAG
Portable appliance testing to AS/NZS 3760 for workplaces, hospitality venues, tradies, hire equipment and short-stay properties across the Clarence Valley.
Test and tag is a Work Health and Safety requirement across most Australian workplaces, and specifically mandated in hostile environments — construction sites, hospitality kitchens, workshops and hire equipment. Insurers increasingly require it as well.
Assemble Electrical carries out test and tag to AS/NZS 3760, provides a full digital register, colour-coded tags with next-test dates, and written compliance reports that satisfy WorkCover and insurance requirements.

A COMPLETE GUIDE TO TEST AND TAG
Testing intervals
AS/NZS 3760 sets minimum retest intervals by environment: 3 months for construction and demolition, 6 months for factories and warehouses, 12 months for offices and retail, and 5 years for double-insulated equipment in low-risk environments.
What's actually tested
Each appliance gets a visual inspection, earth continuity test (Class I), insulation resistance test, polarity check and functional check. Failed items are tagged out of service and reported.
RCD testing
Portable and fixed RCDs must also be tested — push-button monthly by the user, and full time-current test at the AS/NZS 3760 intervals by a competent person.
Digital register
We provide a full asset register — asset ID, description, location, test results, next test date and pass/fail history. This makes future audits and insurance renewals painless.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is test and tag legally required?
In NSW, it is mandatory in hostile environments (construction, demolition) under WHS regulations. For other workplaces it is strongly recommended and typically required by insurers.
How often does equipment need retesting?
It depends on the environment. Construction is 3-monthly, factories 6-monthly, offices 12-monthly. We schedule reminders.
Do you tag out failed equipment?
Yes — failed items receive a red 'Danger — do not use' tag and are listed in the compliance report.
