PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE
Assemble Electrical carries a current public liability insurance policy covering third-party property damage and personal injury arising from our work. Certificates of currency are available on request for commercial customers, property managers, and site inductions.
WORKERS' COMPENSATION
Where any team member or apprentice is involved, workers' compensation is in place as required under NSW law (icare workers insurance). You are not exposed if a worker is injured on your property while performing work for us.
SAFETY-FIRST WORK PRACTICES
Electrical work is inherently hazardous — for the tradesperson doing the work, and for anyone in the building afterwards if the job is done poorly. Our standard safety practices include:
- Test before touching. Every circuit is verified de-energised before any live work is undertaken.
- Lockout/tagout. Isolated circuits are locked and tagged so no one accidentally re-energises them while we're working.
- Correct PPE. Insulated gloves, arc-rated clothing where relevant, safety glasses and hard-hat when overhead work is involved.
- Safe work method statements. Formal SWMS for high-risk work such as switchboard replacement, Level 2 mains work and overhead line work.
- Site setup. Barriers, signage and drop sheets to keep occupants clear of work zones.
- Verification testing. Every finished installation is tested to AS/NZS 3017 before we hand over — loop impedance, RCD trip time, insulation resistance, polarity and earth continuity.
SAFETY OUTCOMES FOR YOU
The single most important safety upgrade in most older Yamba, Maclean and Clarence Valley homes is RCD/safety-switch protection on every final subcircuit. Modern switchboards use RCBOs (combined breakers and safety switches) per circuit so a fault on one appliance doesn't trip the whole house — and, more importantly, cuts power fast enough to prevent electrocution. SMOKE ALARM COMPLIANCE
NSW law requires interconnected, photoelectric smoke alarms in all rental properties and progressively in all dwellings. We install and test to AS 3786 and provide compliance documentation for landlords and holiday-let hosts. See Smoke Alarm Installation.

Can I see your certificate of currency?
Yes. Certificates of currency for public liability insurance are provided to commercial customers and property managers on request via email.
What happens if something is damaged during a job?
In the extremely rare case of accidental damage, our public liability insurance covers third-party property damage. In practice we protect the space carefully with drop sheets and rarely need to invoke it.
Is RCD protection legally required?
For any new circuit installed today under AS/NZS 3000, yes — RCD protection is mandatory. For existing older installations without RCDs there's no forced retrofit, but any significant alteration will trigger the requirement and it's strongly recommended regardless.
