A good ceiling fan is one of the most effective cooling upgrades any Clarence Valley home can make — cheaper to run than air-conditioning, and often enough on its own during the shoulder seasons. But sag, wobble and buzzing all come down to how the fan is mounted and wired.

Assemble Electrical installs new fans, replaces old ones, and fits light kits and wall or remote controllers, with proper ceiling bracing where needed so the fan runs quiet and balanced from day one.

A COMPLETE GUIDE TO CEILING FAN INSTALLATION

    DC vs AC

DC fans are more efficient, quieter and typically offer 6 speeds with a remote. AC fans are cheaper up front and still fine for most applications. In bedrooms and living rooms where the fan runs for hours, DC pays back the price difference quickly.

    Bracing matters

Fans mounted straight onto a plaster ceiling without proper bracing will sag, wobble and eventually crack the plaster. We add a bracing bar between joists on every install where the existing point doesn't already support fan weight.

    Outdoor and coastal fans

Verandah and alfresco fans need to be IP44 or better, with corrosion-resistant motor housings. In direct coastal exposure at Yamba, Angourie and Iluka, we specify marine-rated fans.

    Light kits and controls

LED light kits can be retrofitted to most fans. Wall plates give a cleaner look than pull cords; RF remotes give full control from anywhere in the room including timer and reverse (winter) mode.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can you install a fan where there was previously just a light?

Yes — we replace the existing point, add proper ceiling bracing, and run the fan/light control as required.

How long does an install take?

A straightforward fan swap with existing wiring is usually under an hour. A new install with bracing and control wiring is longer — we quote before starting.

Which brand of fan do you recommend?

Hunter Pacific, Fanco, Ventair and Big Ass Fans all make good DC options. We're happy to install a fan you supply, or supply and install to your budget.
